It is not every day you come across true heroism and perseverance. U.S. Army Veteran, SFC Aaron M. Causey is the definition of both.
Pushing Through Adversities
SFC Causey was severely injured in Afghanistan in September 2011. He suffered the loss of both legs and lost several of his fingers among other wounds. As a result of his injuries, Aaron was unable to return home immediately. He underwent two years of rehabilitation at Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. His wife, Kat, remained at his side through it all, and their unwavering love for one another during such a difficult time is truly an inspiration.
Aaron’s story is personal to our team as he is the brother-in-law to our own Renee Causey. Although the last five years have been incredibly challenging, they have also been rewarding. Aaron and Kat welcomed the arrival of their daughter, AJ, who turns three in January.
Striving for New Beginnings
The couple proudly bought land in The Highlands neighborhood in Birmingham, Alabama to build their dream home. They broke ground in May 2016 and have a tentative completion date inearly 2017. Working with AJ Homes Inc and the VA, they’ve ensured it is accessible and fitted for Aaron’s needs.
The Causeys received a build loan but are also grateful to the outside support from their community. Non-profits and private donors joined their project to see their forever home become a reality. Premier Surfaces is honored to volunteer our services for fabricating and installing their countertops.
If you would like to learn more about this amazing man and his family, you can join their Facebook page Coming Home Causey. You can also make a donation to the project or text BRAVE to 27722 to donate $10 on your phone bill through the EO.
We look forward to providing an update on how Aaron, Kat, and AJ are settling into their new home. Please stay tuned.
