What about the material — do you want stainless steel, cast iron, or granite composite? While we can’t help you with all of the choices, we can help you understand the ins and outs of the granite composite sink. Read on to learn more.
What is a Granite Composite Sink?
A granite composite sink is one that is made of granite. Because it isn’t all natural granite, it can vary in color. Most options tend to come in a pearl finish or are white, black, tan, silver or gray. Generally, granite composite sinks have a very modern feel. Prices vary greatly, ranging from less than $100 to a few thousand dollars; the higher the amount of stone, the higher the price tag. The higher amount of natural stone in the sink means that the sink is more durable. Granite composite sinks are easy to clean and are resistant to scratches, stains and heat.
How are Granite Composite Sinks Made?
As an engineered product, a granite composite sink is made of a mixture of acrylic resins and granite stone dust. The mixture is molded into the shape of a sink. The color of the sink is determined by the resins used in the mixture.
How do I Maintain and Clean a Granite Composite Sink?
A granite composite sink will get water spots if you don’t clean up water on them regularly. In general, you want to dry the sink after each use or at least at the end of the day. When you wash it, use a soapy nylon brush. Clean it using a circular motion to assist in stain prevention. This will aid in preventing stains due to hard-water deposits that form. If you find yourself needing more than dish soap to wash the sink, make sure you opt for a pH balanced or pH neutral cleaner. An acidic cleaner or one that’s abrasive will etch and dull the surface.
